The heaviest payload to ride an Atlas V rocket lifted off from Cape Canaveral today, 24th February 2012 at 22:15 UTC. This launch comes after 2 failed attempts to launch, after a red weather condition on upper level winds.

The Atlas V was in the 551 configuration with 5 SRBs. The MUOS-1 Satellite is for the United States Navy and will provide narrowband tactical communications for US forces on the move, providing over 10 times more communications capacity over existing systems, including simultaneous voice, video and data.
